  • Chiawa GMA is one of only 2 game management areas on the Zambian side of the famous Zambezi Valley and thus along the famous Zambezi River.

    Sharing a long boundary with the famous and well managed lower Zambezi National Park this area holds a good density of wildlife of both dangerous and plains game.

  • Due to an attempt to run exclusively photographic safaris here this area has not been hunted since 2016 and thus 2026 will be the first season that hunting will be taking place here in 10 years, meaning that the age class of animals and thus trophy size is impressive.

    This area has good plains game in the form of waterbuck, kudu , bushbuck especially and wonderful elephant, buffalo and leopard hunting. We look forward to an exciting opening season in Chiawa.

Hunting — Chiawa

Chiawa GMA is a paradise for hunting dangerous game including the aquatic species hippo and crocodile. A large mix of habitat from thick riverine belts to classic zambezi valley mopane and rolling foothills provide diverse habitat for a good variety of species.

Chiawa is most well known for its impressive elephant bulls, classic dagga boy hunting as well as fantastic hippo and crocodile hunting. Between the dangerous game hunting there is good hunting for kudu, bushbuck, waterbuck and other plains game in between !
