Sengwe 1 & 2 , are both community hunting areas in south eastern Zimbabwe that are currently leased by Backcountry Africa for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, this area holds a population of local people that directly benefit from the hunting operation here.
As there are people in the area and general wildlife such as small game is not prolific and thus seldom hunted, but for the big game Sengwe provides a vital food source at certain times of the year as the adjacent national parks are overpopulated in terms of elephant.

The map shows the areas fortunate location between 3 national parks (Gonrezhou - Zimbabwe, TFCA Park Mozambique and Kruger National Park - South Africa)
Interestingly within Sengwe is the famous crooks corner where ivory hunters of old used to commonly cross the Limpopo into either Zimbabwe, Mozambique or South Africa to evade which every authority wanted them the most.
Hunting — Sengwe 1 & 2
The hunting in Sengwe is primarily focused on the hunting of trophy Elephant Bulls as well as Buffalo, with its spectacular location, habitat and water sources it is an area that at the right time of year can produce a good volume of elephant movement as well as good numbers of buffalo that are mostly resident in the area.
Due to is location there is always a chance at a magnificent elephant here and the 2025 season saw us fortunately take the single largest elephant in Zimbabwe for the year. The elephant hunting is a combination of a classic tracking elephant hunt and sometimes a spot and stalk type hunt on the major river systems, the buffalo hunting is a classic tracking hunt in some varied terrain and once again the area produced some special buffalo in 2025.

Camp — Sengwe
The Sengwe camp located on the banks of the Mwenezi river is a comfortable tented camp and ideally located to access elephant and buffalo hunting on both sides of the concession, there is the potential need to fly camp across the concession if elephant and buffalo movement necessitates it.
